Jan. 26th, 2016 – 7:00PM – at the church.Jesus readin

I’m looking forward to our first study of the year and sharing scripture with all of you who attend! We will be looking at Luke 4:14-30.  This actually covers 2 weeks of Jim’s sermons but it’s hard to separate the 2 as they make up one story. It’s often titled “Jesus Rejected at Nazareth” but I sort of like “How to kill the mood” 🙂

Read the passages and see how they speak to you.  Do you hear a message? Do questions come to mind? Is there a teaching for us today? If you have answers to any of that please scratch them down to share with us on the 26th.

Here’s what I came up with –  maybe I should have replaced the “we” with “I” because I think part of the message is accepting that what Jesus says  is really about me (or us) and not someone else.
How many of us are most concerned with impressing the people we know?
Do we ever feel “annoyed” when God’s blessings seem to fall more on others than ourselves?
Do we sometimes fail to see what is right in front of us because it is so familiar?
Do we ever get so focused on our own wants and needs that we fail to remember what Jesus really offers and taught?
Is our faith in Jesus predicated on what he does visibly in our own community.
When did the people change from being amazed to wanting to kill Jesus? Why.
When I look in the mirror in the morning I see a man with full dark brown hair with a few silver highlights! What should this tell me about myself?

God be with you.
